My Nobel Prize and Dark Energy

Hello! Just a few things I want to cover before I get started today.

Firstly, thank you for reading this; I don’t say that to my readers enough! THANK YOU! Secondly, I apologize for a lack of posts recently. I have been taking exams and so Revision has come as a priority over blogging (Sad, I know). Finally, just really want to remind you to comment! I promise I will respond to what you say and I want to hear your opinion!

Today, I want to put forward a concept which popped into my head the other day. I don’t know if this is a real concept which someone else has already suggested but here it goes.

It revolves around the universes expansion and ‘Dark Energy’!!! Know we all know the universe is expanding, and it is expanding at the Hubble constant: 160 km/second/million-light-years. Why is it expanding? Well the Big Band was an explosion and like an explosion if forced its matter outward form the centre. Matter was spat out with lots of energy and, as a result travelled fast. But, like in an explosion you expect the energy to run out and the matter to stop moving. If you explode a football buts of football will go everywhere. Some will travel many many meters but eventually will lose so much energy that it stops moving and falls to the ground. We would expect the same from the big bang. Eventually the force of gravity will overcome the force of momentum and the universe will be sucked back to a tiny point. That’s known as the big crunch.

The issue is that the universe’s expansions is accelerating rather than slowing down. Instead of losing energy, our universe seems to be gaining it! This means there must be some energy or force making ours and other universes move faster. Physicists mostly call this energy Dark Energy. It basically is code for: ‘We don’t really know’. We don’t, one of the great mysteries in Physics is exactly that.

The idea which came to me earlier in the week was that the big bang was like a cone. The initial explosion is the tip of the cone and the fabric of space time make the cone shape. Once the big bang happened the matter was released. It hurtled down the sides of the cone (Notice this is a large cone). Our universe is still hurtling down the cone now. It has not lost energy because it is falling down a slope. When the universe reaches the bottom and the momentum has been lost. The gravity at the centre of the big bang will pull the universe back towards it. But it is going uphill so is much harder to pull. So, although a big crunch would happen it won’t b a sudden crunch more a light ping as the universe reaches the tip of the cone.

Great you say! The Nobel Prize should 100% go to you Josh!

Thank you kind reader who most likely doesn’t actually have that opinion. But there are issues with this idea. If you roll a ball down a hill on earth it goes down it because it is being pulled down by gravity. But in this large cone model there is no gravity pulling down. But, do not fear. There is a force which will explain this issue! It’s called Dark Energy and I don’t know much more.

You see with, almost every unsolved problem, you can solve one issue, but another stops the first working and can only be solved by engaging the solution which caused the problem in the first place!

But meh, this is going on too long. Hope you enjoyed a little trip into my mind.

Please comment and thanks for reading,

Josh

  1. Mr Scientist Josh Price,

You are a monumental iconic expert when dealing with the Universe. Your expertise on this subject causes my blood to be vibrating on a daily basis.

I’m hoping you can answer the below questions for me. I will incorporate your response in my next sermons for church educational purposes.

    1) Can dark energy be scientifically proven ?

    2) Does the air or wind has any bearing upon the moving force of the universe/ dark energy ?

    3) What will happen if Dark energy gets diminished or stopped one day?

    4) Is God the synonym for Dark Energy..?

    5) Don’t you think that “God” is the one expanding the universe ?

    6) What is your scientific thought of God and the universe ?

    7) Do you believe that someday the universe will stop to expand, and what will then be the consequences ?

    8) Do you think that God has any limits and barriers..?

    9) Do believe that Jesus-Emmanuel our savior is Omniscient, and Omnipotent ?

    10) Do you think that God may also be human since most people (the so called christianity) unfortunately think that he is under the DISGUISE of Jesus or Emmanuel..?

I praise your expertise Mr. Price. You deserve more than a dam Nobel Prize. Your expertise is priceless and worth more than Gold and money. I’m stunned. Glory to you Mr Price.

    • Wow, okay. That’s a lot of questions and will take a lot of time to answer all of them. If you don’t mind I might turn these into a short 5 Post series addressing 2 questions per post. I hope that is okay. Do you have any preference to an order of which they are answered?

      Thanks,
      Josh
